The More We Get Together

I was watching TV the other night and a commercial came on, the background song by  Raffi, 'The More We Get Together'. Absolutely flooded with memories and then realized what a special song this is in this new frontier we are forging.

In my home Raffi was HUGE. His videos were played over and over again, his CD's were our prefered play time music. When he came to the local music hall we took our kids to see this RockStar. My god, my eyes were tearing up, my kids were rocking out. I was at a preschool rock 'n roll concert. Shades of things to come (RHCP, Pixies, Bridge School Concerts) to name a few and the activities that were pursued were not at all like that concert of yore.

But back to those precious 'little one' days. The kids loved Raffi and his messages were so gentle, loving, caring, all inclusive and so damn singable. I was rocking out to 'The Wheels on the Bus' and 'Baby Beluga'. I would like to think part of the reason I have such sweet, big-hearted, caring men-kids is because they listened to him and learned his loving words. Add to this Woody Guthrie and Barney and you have some pretty heady stuff that your kids are grooving to.

So those two tow-heads are now adults, and they are two of the finest human beings I know. Was it nature or nurture.
